LSC Family Tender Process: What you Need to Know

The tender for the interim family, and family with housing, legal aid contracts starts on Monday 5 September 2011 and lasts for four weeks. This timely webinar helps to answer your questions about the tender process.

Based on the Law Society's practice note on the subject, the webinar covers:

• a summary of the main changes to the legal aid contract 2007 and the tendering process
• the timetable for tendering
• what the LSC want to buy and how they intend to buy it.

The current Unified Contract (Civil) will be extended to 31 January 2012 while the new 2012 Interim Contracts come into force on 1 February 2012. Practitioners must apply for and be awarded the new contract in order to carry out any new family controlled and licensed work from 1 February.

The webinar takes the form of a live audio event accompanied by slides during which you will have the opportunity to ask questions. Following the event you will be able to revisit a recorded version.

The webinar will be presented by Sunita Mason and Nick Aspley. Sunita Mason was Chair of the Family Law Committee from September 2007 to August 2011 She sits as a Deputy District Judge and is a member of the Law Society Children's Panel. She is currently the Independent Advisor to the Home Secretary on Criminality Information. Nick is Head of the Family Department at Marchants Solicitors and is a member of the Law Society Family Law Committee.

This is aimed at Solicitors and Practice Managers who deal with Family legal aid contracts.

The audio webinar will take place at 1 pm on 7 September 2011 and is scheduled to last one hour.
