Advocacy Section Launch Podcast

Training Provider: The Law Society
On 26 January 2012, the Law Society launched the new Advocacy Section at a prestigious and extremely well attended event at Chancery Lane. The Advocacy Section will help solicitor advocates, both criminal and civil, to access high quality training to help them to further develop their practice. It will also include mentoring and networking opportunities on a national and circuit level.

The sense of occasion surrounding the launch event was augmented by the support lent by the seniority of those in attendance, including the Lord Chief Justice, the Master of the Rolls and the President of the Queen’s Bench Division.

These free podcasts enable you to access a recording of the speeches given at the launch. The event was opened by John Wotton who introduced the benefits and rationale of the new section. John Wotton then introduced the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales who spoke about the importance of good quality advocacy in the courts and declared his support to the initiative. The Lord Chief Justice was then followed by Mike Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer of the CPS, who in turn was followed by Yvonne Spencer, the chair of the Solicitors Association of Higher Court Advocates, both of whom lent their support to the project and spoke of their respective organisations’ experiences and level of involvement with solicitor advocates’ training and support.

You can play the podcasts through your PC or download them as MP3 files for CPD points on the move. If you have any technical problems please contact your IT department in the first instance.
