The Telegraph recently reported that pension sharing orders in divorce settlements rose by 11% last year. This is partly due to people becoming more aware how valuable pensions can be. With house prices stagnating and lower investment returns the pension is increasingly being seen as a valuable asset that can be transferred at relatively low cost.

Pensions however in the divorce/dissolution context are formidably complex and the rules are fraught with difficulty. The webinar will provide guidance on the main types of pensions available on the market, the different types of income and its implications on pension sharing and the red flags to watch out for. Guidance will also be given on practical aspects including drafting letters of instruction to an expert. Ample time will be provided to ask questions to our expert panel on legal and financial planning topics.

This one hour webinar will:
• provide an opportunity to obtain guidance on complex or unusual pensions
• provide guidance on all the latest changes to pension law in the context of divorce proceedings

The speakers for this webinar are Kate Hamilton, Partner at Russell- Cooke, and
Daniela Glover, Director of Personal financial planning at Smith & Williamson.

The webinar takes the form of a live audio event accompanied by slides recorded on the 10th October 2012.
